it was a pretty damn amazing episode, filled with loads of humor and a wonderful twist in the last 15 mins. But I think the best part was the parallelism during the scene when echo is talking to the professor at his house (I think thats where the scene was)and victor is being interrogated by Ballard. Wonderful metaphor towards the dollhouse.
Damn!! i loved this episode…the only one so far i actually payed attention the whole time. Why is it Eliza Dushku is so awesome at playing insane/crazy ppl?? She ROCKS!!
THIS is how stand-alone eps should be done. It shouldn’t be “and this week, she’s a popstar!”, but instead should be “and this week, we’re going to screw with your mind and the scenario that we’ve created!”. Haunted was the same way, but its ideas were a better than its execution (still a good episode).
The best episode (by far) of season 2, on par with the end of season 1, and the best stand-alone episode of the series. Next week looks *incredible* though.
this wasn’t a stand alone episode
we now see how Toffur (sp.?) gets the initial ideas for doing a remote mind wipe
(spoiler, I suppose for those who didn’t see aftermath)
And it’s nice to see how these things connect to Epitaph One. This is why sometimes knowing the destination isn’t detrimental to enjoying the journey, because seeing how we get to said destination is part of the fun and intrigue.
Absolutely jaw-droppingly amazing. LOVED this episode. Lots of great moments. Especially:
“He’ll be an empty-headed robot wandering around Hollywood. He’ll be fine!”
and
“You have a problem?”
Keke!Victor MADE MY LIFE, ahaha. It was also nice to see Boyd as Echo’s handler again and to have Doc Saunders mentioned. Plus if Paul did kill Teri – I think I might be warming up to him! Additionally, Adelle being the angry boss lady we know and love plus the addition of Michael Hogan… this episode consisted of nothing but plus, undiluted awesome!
A+ WOULD WATCH AGAIN. Will watch in again in fact. Tomorrow, once it’s up on Hulu. Many times over. Oh yes. Do the same, everyone!
Also, the next episode LOOKS EVEN MORE AMAZING IF THAT IS POSSIBLE WHAT.
Ep 1 still takes the crown for best ep of season 2 for me; the whole Dr. Saunders and Topher talking scene was very well done. Epitaph One is slowly becoming true, tho!
Don’tcha mean the episode two weeks from now, as next week has baseball instead, gossi?
Anyways, this is my favorite “arc-lite” episode so far. Something going wrong with Kiki seemed inevitable or else things would have ended sickeningly and boringly. Two weeks is just too long.
This series needs more Enver. He was creepy as Terry and hilarious as Kiki. XD I was kind of bummed that the switch meant Echo wound up getting the serial killer imprint, but A)it meant seeing the Victor-as-Kiki scene and B)no Echo-client sex scene this week! XD
Dude, even Ballard was pretty neat to watch this week. I vote there be more scenes where he’s interacting with Boyd or Victor.
And I don’t want to have to wait two weeks for the next episode! D: It looks so fascinating! And so creepy!
SWEET JEEBUS!!!!!!! This was an excellent episode! Enver proves yet again, what an exceptional actor he is. His talent is untouchable, truly great. This episode was a bit like “Man on the Street” from Season 1: It was the episode that mind fraks you with drama, action and humor leaving you breathless and hooked! Great work Whedon, keep it up! Fox, for the love of all that is fuzzy, do not cancel this! Cancel that damn brothers show, lmao.
Tim Minear is an awesome writer. He needs to be the lead man on DH. He GETS it.
A little something about Nielsen ratings – How many “Nielsen families” are there?
There are 5,000 households in the national People Meter sample, approximately 20,000 households in the local metered market samples, approximately 1,000 metered homes for our national and local Hispanic measurement, and nearly 1.6 million diaries are edited each year.
My FOX channel as an ep of the Simpsons and TMZ at 9pm next week. I’m looking forward to the Sierra ep.
The National People Meter sample was 12,000 households two years ago and over 17,000 in the fourth quarter of 2008, with an announced planned expansion to 37,000 by 2011. The quoted FAQ answer of “5,000″ has been stale for a while.
Enver Gjokaj was spectacular in this episode! Of course, I always think he’s the best at playing the different personalities, but he outdid himself, here. Super creepy as Terri and frickin’ hilarious as Kiki. We need more Victor in the episodes…
The best episode of the year, and one of the best of the series. Why? Other than the cool premise and awsome execution(thank you Minear and Solomon!), we got a) a lot of Enver, b) a lot of non-lame Paul c)a lot of The House, and d)not A LOT of Echo.
I don’t get all the Paul hate, but anyway. I do agree that this is the best stand-alone episode so far, and I’m happy to see ratings went up a bit. I am, however, worried about the week long baseball imposed hiatus and whether we can keep up the momentum with the next episode. I sure hope so.
Loved the episode and glad to see the ratings went up a bit. Dollhouse placed 3rd in it’s timeslot. I hope the pre-emp next week doesn’t hurt. Fox needs to put Dollhouse and Fringe on Tuesday nights. I have to Hulu both because Fringe is on the same time EVERYTHING ELSE is on. Thursday is packed! And I just don’t watch TV on Friday nights. Those are the only 2 shows I watch on FOX.
Transcendent, sexy, disturbing, funny, alienating, and ultimately true. This isn’t just television, it’s subversive epic mythology. I am in awe. This is, like, a religious experience or something.
if I ever see Enver, I’m proposing. This is how much I love the man after watching Dollhouse.
This is the best episode yet this season!! And I’m interested to see how Echo will adjust with Terry in her (since I get the feeling that he’s worse than any of the other personalities that she’s had).
Much much better than the rather dull “Instict”. Lots of very interesting things happened in Belle Chose – the most important being the interest in remote wipes which we know will be very important in the future.
I’m still slightly dissapointed that the start of season 2 seems to be a lot like the start of season 1 – lots of stand alone episodes, some done well (Belle Chose, and next weeks Belonging if its as good as it looks) but some done very badly (Instinct)
It seems that with Dollhouse the seasons don’t start until like 5 or 6 episodes in….. it wasn’t like this with Buffy or Firefly. Still i love the show and have high hopes for season 2. Just hope it gets good enough to warrant a third season or at the least an extra 9 eps for season 2.
it really WAS like this with Buffy, though. The season arc never really swung into play until the 14th episode or so for the first four seasons, excluding the first, obviously (season two’s “Innocence”, season three’s “Bad Girls”, season four’s “Goodbye Iowa”). I think the whole thing there was to set up the conditions and environment, sort of the “feel” for the season in the first half of it, while roping people in to stick around for the last half. I really don’t have a problem with Whedon doing this with Dollhouse–Buffy turned out okay, did it not? =)
Dollhouse what?
Dollverse is an award winning website which takes you inside Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku's FOX TV series, DOLLHOUSE. It started as a 5 minute a day thing, then we got a bit lost in the Dollverse.
DOLLHOUSE is a multi-award winning television series about getting lost down the rabbit hole of society and self, which airs FRIDAY, 9/8c on FOX - and across the world.
it was a pretty damn amazing episode, filled with loads of humor and a wonderful twist in the last 15 mins. But I think the best part was the parallelism during the scene when echo is talking to the professor at his house (I think thats where the scene was)and victor is being interrogated by Ballard. Holy and Crap.
Did not see that coming. But me likey!
Wonderful! Best Ep of S2 So Far!
I Hope Belonging Airs!
Damn!! i loved this episode…the only one so far i actually payed attention the whole time. Why is it Eliza Dushku is so awesome at playing insane/crazy ppl?? She ROCKS!!

Topher.

OMG! come one topher is sp, and u call urself a fan
by the way it was great – but I still loved episode 2 – what happens when you try hormonal reconstruction
I just love Dollhouse
Absolutely jaw-droppingly amazing. LOVED this episode. Lots of great moments. Especially:

agreed, except for epitaph1 ep 1 of 2nd season so far the best
Don’tcha mean the episode two weeks from now, as next week has baseball instead, gossi?
Anyways, this is my favorite “arc-lite” episode so far. Something going wrong with Kiki seemed inevitable or else things would have ended sickeningly and boringly. Two weeks is just too long.
Good point! Baseball next week.
Victor definitely made the best Kiki!
I am worried about the personalities that are going into Echo’s makeup.
XD

i think victor is just awesome as almost anything, man that guy can act, where did they find him?
I have no idea, but I’m glad they found him!
Any news on the ratings? How’d we do?
We’ll find out tomorrow.

YES FOX! pls get better shows to prelude to our awesome DH!
Tim Minear is an awesome writer. He needs to be the lead man on DH. He GETS it.

Then Nielsen needs to update their site!
Or to just nuke that page. None of the links out work, the stylesheet is gone, etc. It looks to date from late 2000.
That was so HILARIOUS when Victor was Kiki. The dancing, snuggling Paul…too rich. Good on Enver for being a good sport with it.
Enver Gjokaj was spectacular in this episode! Of course, I always think he’s the best at playing the different personalities, but he outdid himself, here. Super creepy as Terri and frickin’ hilarious as Kiki.
We need more Victor in the episodes…
They should totally have left Little Bo Peep guy, I’m just sayin’. That would have been AMAZING.
The best episode of the year, and one of the best of the series. Why? Other than the cool premise and awsome execution(thank you Minear and Solomon!), we got a) a lot of Enver, b) a lot of non-lame Paul c)a lot of The House, and d)not A LOT of Echo.
WOW.
I must see that this episode displayed some of the best acting I’ve seen this entire show!
Victor as Kiki = AWESOME.
Absolutely hilarious and at the sametime believeable to. This guy rocks!
I really hope I get to see more of this show!
I don’t get all the Paul hate, but anyway. I do agree that this is the best stand-alone episode so far, and I’m happy to see ratings went up a bit. I am, however, worried about the week long baseball imposed hiatus and whether we can keep up the momentum with the next episode. I sure hope so.
lol, He’s just So OCD. What’s makes it annoying is that it’s JUST Echo. He Doesn’t seem like he wants to help anyone but her and it’s real turnoff.
Did anyone else catch what Adelle said to Boyd about how nobody ever really leaves the Dollhouse? What do you suppose that could mean for Madeline?
Loved the episode and glad to see the ratings went up a bit. Dollhouse placed 3rd in it’s timeslot. I hope the pre-emp next week doesn’t hurt. Fox needs to put Dollhouse and Fringe on Tuesday nights. First good episode of the season. The stand alone episodes should all be of this calibre or better.
Fingers crossed things will continue to improve. I really want this to be as good as Firefly! I’ll keep watching if it aspires to such heights.
Much much better than the rather dull “Instict”. Lots of very interesting things happened in Belle Chose – the most important being the interest in remote wipes which we know will be very important in the future.
