Q&A about Dollhouse season 2 – minor spoilers

I thought we’d try this. Basically, we take questions posed on Twitter and Livejournal about the second season, and either answer directly about what I know (without giving too much away) or ask other people to answer.

I don’t know if this format is useful or if we’ll do it again – let me know!

@Dowhead asks: “Did I hear something about Summer Glau on Dollhouse or am I just too hopeful?”

We say:
True! As announced here, Summer is joining Dollhouse as a reoccuring cast member in season two. She will be on your screen late October, and on set filming shortly. Her part is really cool and a bit different to how you’ve seen Summer before, so I hope you tune in.

@masonmiller asks: “Will it be too confusing for those who haven’t seen Epitaph One?”

We say:
Season two episode one makes an effort to reintroduce the core concept of Epitaph One (that society collapsed and they’re looking for Safe Haven, ultimately). That said, I think it helps if you’ve seen the episode to orientate things personally. But it’s not essential.

@Treehouse312 asks: “Will November be back at all? Love November/Mellie!”

We say:
Maybe! Which means: yes. Which I’m super excited about because, hello, it’s Miracle Laurie!

@TylerGoss asks: “Do we know as far as the timeline goes, where season two is starting?”

We say:
Yep. 3 months after Alpha took Echo in 1×12, “Omega”.

@cpduffy asks: “..How do you see the chances of being picked up for the back half of season 2?”

We say:
The only way to answer is to ask one of the FOX execs. They say – if the show can average around where season one pegged, they will consider the ‘back 9′. Which would bring a full 22 episode season two. My advice? Don’t worry about it. Ratings are a strange beast, and despite everybody saying the show was cancelled before it even began, well, here we are.

@EricLAA says: “Summer in the fall for sure, she is gorgeous and so very talented. Loved her in Fire Fly and Sarah Connor chronicles”.

We say:
There’s not really a question in that! But I agree.

@Jen_McLean asks: “All I really want to know is… More Alan Tudyk? Possibly?”

We say:
Possibly indeed! Somebody told me recently we haven’t seen the last of Alpha. The impact of ‘Super Echo’ certainly isn’t forgotten either.

Ben asks: “What’s the most exciting thing you’ve heard about season two?”

We say:
Everything. I remember during the first season thinking “…a pop star episode? Oh noes”. (Because apparently I think like a lolcat). This season is different – every idea I’ve heard thrown around (and those which I know have stuck) has been twisted and great. I think there’s a much better grasp of both what the show is from the writers and network, and also what it can be.

And, seriously: Alexis Denisof.

Absolutely every interview I've read/heard the cast and crew seem much more focussed and upbeat than they did at least during the early production of season 1.

  2. Mija says:

Where can i find the unaired episode 13?

  3. Kevin says:

Mija, it is on the DVD. Which is available in the USA now, and shortly the UK and Australia.

  4. Anonymous says:

Oh, it's also on iTunes and Amazon VOD.

  5. Coco says:

Hey Kevin I was wondering if there was any news on a Halloween episode? Since they havent release any info on the Oct 30th episode. I ask because they could actually do something really wonderful since Halloween and the Dollhouse have alot in common, people pretending to be something there really not, etc

  6. wiesengrund says:

The name of the fifth episode (presumably the one airing on Oct 30th) will be "The Public Eye". Doesn't sound very Halloween-y to me, and I don't know if they knew which episode is going to air when when they wrote it.

  7. wiesengrund says:

No, wait, that's wrong. "The Public Eye" is on Oct 23, I got that mixed up. 2×06 will be on Oct 30. (Heh, Buffy 2×06 was "Halloween" :)

  8. Carla Johns says:

As a huge buffy, angel, firefly, serenity and tru calling fan I am praying dollhouse does not get cancelled.

It is a excellent concept with great writing and casting, I just bought the first season on DVD and WOW getting to rewatch every episode also the brilliant unaired episode rocked.

im looking forward to season 2 my fave charcters were echo, mellie, adele and topher. i cant wait to see summer glau in the show she is wonderful.

Good Luck to the cast and crew of Dollhouse please please make it for oh lets say 7 seasons at least!!
