SEASON ONE

Popularity Of Show Causes Temporary Sales Disruption Of Exclusive Advanced BD/DVD

CENTURY CITY, Calif. – Within a couple of hours, fervent fans of Joss Whedon’s television hit “Dollhouse,” created a colossal traffic jam temporarily halting the pre-sale at Foxstore.com of the special advanced limited edition BD and DVD of the show’s groundbreaking first season. Individually numbered and highly collectible, only 5000 (2500 Blu-ray/2500 DVD) copies were created, each featuring a personal letter to fans from Whedon and special packaging. The DVD is available for pick-up exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con International. The Studio has resumed pre-sales.

“Dollhouse” Season One BD and DVD will be available everywhere July 28.

Within a couple of hours? It crashed immediately, lol.

  2. Anonymous says:

Also, it didn't exactly crash… it just didn't go live at all for the first 23 minutes. And then it glitched almost immediately. The overwhelming traffic wasn't even a factor until FOX managed to fix its own epic fail programming. And then Whedonites promptly crashed it. :)
As someone tweeted earlier, we broke FOX again.

  3. cuardin says:

    Hehe. Neet.
So how many time is it now that Mr. Joss has crashed major internet setups?

  4. Tania says:

you know what? Even now it's back, it's got a glitch!
Try ordering for yourself and entering as collection name, a friend attending CC who has already ordered their own. You will get the message: 'That name or collection email has already placed an order. Only one per person'.

Seriously. The rules say you can place an order for someone else to collect. It's allowed. But it didn't occur to Fox that the person collecting might order, too? WTF??

There's no way around it. I only have one friend who can collect for me. I tried emailing Fox, no reply. I'm outside the US so calling them is expensive.
I can't believe I am the only one who will have this problem. Come on Fox, think!!

  5. Anonymous says:

I had the same problem. Gr Argh!

  6. Tania says:

see, I knew I wouldn't be alone! ;-) It's insane troll logic, right?

Still nada from Fox. I tried googling to see if anyone else had come up with a solution or talked to Fox about it & maybe got an answer. No joy though.

  7. Tania says:

By the way, checked Whedonesque – loads of people have had problems with pre-ordering. Including multiple charges, because each time the order fails their card is being charged!
    Beware the Curse of Fox…

  8. FallenWiccan says:

Yup, I got three charges, took me over my credit card limit. Oh well nothing I can do about it, I'm just going to celebrate only 8 working days until I'm on holiday and comic con *yay*

  9. Anonymous says:

i just tried ordering the Blu-ray and my order went through on the first try, and i got my confirmation email 10 seconds later!! i also just called the 888 number to double check there was only one charge to my CC and they were super helpful (i guess the customer service reps didn't have any info yesterday) and very apologetic and told me that my anyone i know who got multiple charged shouldn't worry, that they would figure as quickly as possible. i'm excited to pick it up at Comic Con!!!

  10. Anonymous says:

FYI I was having the problem with my friend ordering a copy with my name as pick up and then me myself not being able to buy a copy as well BUT it looks like they just corrected the problem since I was able to put an order in for a standard dvd.

  11. Tania says:

In the end, another friend (who I didn't realise is going to CC) ordered one for me. So, yay! But I still have three charges pending on my account. I hope they fix it without me calling them, as it's not toll-free to call from the UK!

Incidentally, I got an email from Fox answering my query as to whether a person in the UK could order to collect at CC.
The answer was that if the billing details were not in the US, the order would NOT work.

Oh rly? Because I'm sure I've seen posts from UK-ers who placed orders ok! Ecven when I tried & failed, the error I got had nothing to do with my address.
And just why not, anyway? They don't have to mail the DVDs, and they clearly have no trouble accessing overseas banks. So, WTF??
