The 13th and final episode of Dollhouse (season one) will not be airing on FOX. They do not wish to air it.
If you want to complain to the powers that be – but bear in mind they’re still deciding if they want to make another series - send a note about wishing to see how the season ends to:

I really can’t believe FOX hasn’t decided to cancel the series if they’re now refusing to air episode 13.
What is Fox’s problem?!
I tried posting to the wall of the FB group but my comment was nearly instantly deleted.
disregard that… it’s just the new facebook format.
There’s also a phone number for FOX Broadcasting if you want to be that vocal: 310-369-1000.
“but bear in mind they’re still deciding if they want to make another series”
Do you mean season or series?
“Series” = “season.” Colloquial semantics.
As long as ‘In Plain Sight’ doesn’t get cancelled
Maybe if Joss loves FOX enough they’ll stop beating him…
IMPORTANT QUESTION: They always talk about the “financial viability” of the show, isn´t it possible that they renew the series with lower expenses? Joss fan´s will still be watching the show anyhow, can´t they just tell joss to expend half of the money, do less exterior shots and things that require money. the viability of the thing isn´t just about how much money the show can make, but how much it costs to make the show. I read somewhere that angel was canceled for being too expensive despite having good ratings. Anyone knows about this possibility??

this explains the reason why there not showing the 13th episode
still doesnt look good for a second season though =[
This is ridiculous. Dollhouse is a fantastic show and I think FOX is seriously underestimating Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku’s fanbase. Yes, it was a slow start but EVERYONE agrees that they’ve quickly become addicted to it in the past couple of weeks. SHOW THE LAST EPISODE AND RENEW IT FOR MORE SEASONS!!!
ok the news that episode 13 was never part of the contract gives a small glimour of hope like really small but hope nonetheless. if episode 13 does air it will probably be the season 2 premiere instead
but see here the thing…..the 13th episode will be on the DvD……so that pretty much seals the deal with the show being canceled =[
Does this mean we get a season 2 or not? ;~;
This one has nothing — in theory — to do with a season two. It means FOX Broadcasting Corp don’t want to pay for an episode of the first season, ultimately.
That said, it’s not a terribly promising sign that FOX won’t pay for the final episode of the first season (which will be the final episode of the first season on the DVD).
WE BETTER GET A SEASON TWO! There’s no confirmation yet that we won’t, right? All I have to say is that I’m going to express my disappointment to Eliza how it’s NOT FAIR that everytime I get into one of her shows that’s unique, people like FOX are evil and have to cancel it because it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. I will tell her in person at the Dollhouse seminar. I say we get Buffy to stake the evil FOX.
I hope fox keeps the show, I think it will really be a money maker over time.
I understood that the not airing of the episode doesn´t have anything to do, in theory, with cancelling the show. But, it is clearly a bad sign, a sign that they don´t give a danm about the show and that they will cancel it if doesn´t get better ratings, no matter if the last episodes turn out to be the best things ever made for TV, they dont care about it, they will say no without blinking unless it becomes a hit
I’m tired of Fox canceling shows before their time. This is the umpteenth time this has happened, and only FOX.
Angrily registered this today, join me?

I love Dollhouse I’ve been watching it every Friday night. I also watch it online. I can’t believe Fox haven’t made a decision on the show. I haven’t been watching Fox network until Doolhose premeire. I woun’t be watching Fox network if they cancel Dollhouse. I really love the show. Fox needs to give Dollhouse a chance.
what i don’t understand is if FOX ordered 13 episodes is why they won’t air 13 episodes?
there’s an unaired “pilot” ep that they canned soooooooooooooo they have 14 episodes made. and since it was planned that the “pilot” was to air… that would make 13… so this “13th” ep you all are talking about is really the 14th…
They best not cancel the show, it’s one of my new favorites! I go to the website every sat morning after I get off work and watch it. How stupid would fox be to cut another awesome show?
In terms of figuring it out, let’s look at it as a contest. I’m offering a prize to anyone who can lay out a credible scenario for why Fox would negotiate to disown episode 13, release it on DVD to make in un-broadcastable, but still be genuinely interested in a second season of Dollhouse.
What’s the prize? Um… if I had any guts I’d say a million dollars, because I don’t think you can do it. But I don’t have any guts and I don’t have a million dollars, and some of you guys might be smarter than me.
So how ’bout this? I’ll give you in return a scenario for why Fox would pretend to be considering a second season even though they’re not. Their ad sales are often contingent on ratings. If they admitted that Dollhouse was a dead man walking, the ratings might drop and Fox would have to offer expensive givebacks. And, really, who wants to go into sweeps as the network with the dead Friday night? So they’ll pretend Dollhouse is hot and happening right to the end.
That’s not to say you guys can’t like it. Ratings don’t measure quality. Personally I think Joss swung and missed on Dollhouse. But you know, just yesterday I brought home my Andy Richter Controls The Universe DVD. That was a show that me and about three other people in America liked. But I think it was a little gem, and the thirteen episodes are better than nothing, and to me the cancellation was better than one of those half-pickups where the show has to make bad creative changes and cut the budget and do a crummy second season before it dies.
Being Alpha, of course, I am the mortal enemy of the Dollhouse, so I must predict its demise. But I hope you guys can find a similar place with your one season of Dollhouse that I have with Andy Richter. Best of luck with your futile outrage.
Alpha, I can offer you a scenario – 20th Century Fox and FOX Broadcasting Corp are currently negotiating a second season, and they’ve lumped “episode 13″ as part of that negotiation. Time will tell.
hmm,
on another site-
it said that FOX had bought a 13 episode deal with Dollhouse,
including the pilot that hadn’t been shown-
and simply, FOX had not wished to also buy episode 13 of Dollhouse as it was stated to be almost as a standalone episode.
Although, i wish to see that episode, it will be released in the DVD boxset anyway-
and maybe the Alpha episode can satisfy us as a season finale anyway,
as Tim Minear said he cant ‘wait’ for us to view the episode.
FOX- better buy season two though,
Dollhouse obviously has an amazing load of potential that should be shown
What I understand from Tim Minear’s explanation on Whedonesque (http://whedonesque.com/comments/19822), is that FOX-the-network would have to pay extra to actually air that episode because they accepted a “cannibalization” of the original pilot resulting in 12 episodes to air instead of 13.
That 13th not-airing episode was made for FOX-the-studio, which is the one that does the DVD, because the deal wasn’t changed, and they needed 13.
Giving the present ratings, I can understand (though not agree with) FOX-the-network not wanting to shell out the money.
Tim also says it’s a standalone (and awesome) episode that would be cool to air. He also says it’s a “coda”-type of episode, which, if I refer to my musical background, means it repeats things already said. Maybe the network will get it as something to begin season 2 with.
I’m an optimistic, so I see it as something great I’ll look forward to when buying the season 1 DVD. As long as it’s clear that the not-airing-13 is not really related to FOX-the network wanting to diss the show.
Hi. I had NO idea this site existed until i ran across an article that said they were thinking of cancelling “Dollhouse”, and there is an episode Fox doesn’t want to air.
This is for real, huh ? Are they crazy over there at Fox ?
“Dollhouse” is, by far, the most interesting new show this season had to offer.
I understand that a lot of people are fans of Joss Whedon, and that you all are very loyal to him. I mean, that’s great, but i’m a fan of the show. Never watched “Buffy”, “Firefly”, “Angel”, or any of that. I really liked “Tru Calling”, so i guess i qualify as an Eliza Dushku fan.
I won’t watch a show just because someone is on it, or someone created it. I watch because it’s a good show, and this is a great show.
Fox will cancel a show in a hot minute, won’t they ? It’s a shame. So..of course i want to drop Fox a line voicing my extreme displeasure at the prospect of this show not coming back after this season, as well as not airing a show that should be aired. However, i have a feeling they are very sensitive over there, and i guess i need to make nice..kinda. Any suggestions on exactly what to say when i e-mail them ? I somehow don’t think they will like what is in my mind right now.
Why does FOX has to do that every time with awesome shows, Dollhouse its so GREAT!! I Love It, as others had posted I watch it on tv and also online the next day, FOX shouldn’t do that with series and not with the finales of any season. I’m just disappointed with the bad decisions that FOX makes every time.
since FOX refused to air Epitaph One, why don’t 20th instead make a deal with Hulu to exclusively air this episode?
I so hope this series gets cancelled…This show is so offensive & degrading-especially to women. What is the difference between this company's dealings with it's clients & "dolls" than a pimp & a prostitute…It is little more than glorified human trafficking, and many of the girls depicted are held there against their will-not to mention as mindless human robots-subjected to the will of their masters…And this is something we choose to watch or even like? It's time to wake up girls & stop falling for this crap!
That’s the point! It’s all about what CAN happen and the moral implications of those actions. Yes it deals with controversial issues but in a way that says ‘This is what’s happening and you’ll end up hoping that it gets taken down’. The Dollhouse is the anti-hero, those outside it trying to take it down are the REAL heroes. TBH it raises awareness of the current issues of human trafficking and shows how hard it is to take down as a part of the organised crime that is going on right now. As the old saying goes ‘don’t shoot the messenger’.
