The Writers Strike Begins

Well, here’s the skinny. The writers strike has officially begun, as you can read and discuss in our lovely forums. This includes Joss Whedon, along with pretty much every US TV writer. This means writing on Dollhouse has stopped.

“Television and movie screen writers said Thursday they will go on strike for the first time in nearly 20 years in a dispute over royalties.”

Four writers told The Associated Press that Writers Guild of America President Patric Verrone made the announcement in a closed-door session, causing loud cheers from the crowd.

‘There was a unified feeling in the room. I don’t think anyone wants the strike, but people are behind the negotiation committee,’ writer Dave Garrett said.”

What does this mean for Dollhouse? Well, if the strike doesn’t last long, not much — it’s still early days. If the strike lasts a long time, obviously, it could push production back. With a target premiere date of Fall 2008 and a fairly quick resolution to the issues both parties have, there shouldn’t be a problem. We’ll keep you updated.
